Menen city uses InBeeld to gauge public opinion on Mobility

To guarantee a smooth and safe traffic flow, the town of Menen (Belgium) is taking a future-oriented approach. The municipal authority wants to develop a new mobility plan, which provides for a better quality of life, sustainability and traffic safety. For all road users.

The municipal authority is particularly keen for the public to support the results of this mobility study, which is why it is essential to involve local residents.

Traffic problems mapped out

The municipality chose Witteveen+Bos as its partner for this project. The reason: our phased action plan, in which we carry out a bottleneck analysis in the initial phase. This analysis lists all the issues relating to the current and future traffic situation.

To gain insight into those traffic problems, Witteveen+Bos uses the InBeeld application. An online platform on which all stakeholders can share feedback about mobility.

The advantages of InBeeld:

  • Accessible
  • Easy to use
  • Cost effective
  • Clear analyses of the input

Clear analysis leads to informed vision about mobility

With more than 400 reactions in a short period, the platform has proved its effectiveness. The municipal authority wants to check that its vision on mobility corresponds with the experiences of residents in Menen. Take the Grote Weg in Rekkem, for example. ‘There are currently no safe provisions for cyclists,’ says alderman Patrick Roose. The municipal authority and the residents agree.

Witteveen+Bos uses the results to clearly map out all the traffic problems. On this basis, we will be able to provide a sustainable advice in the coming phases of the project in the form of a clear vision for the future of the town.

We also highlight several local traffic issues that Menen can tackle without the mediation of Witteveen+Bos.

Do you want to optimise the traffic situation in your town or municipality? If so, contact us! We will be happy to help you perform an effective analysis of your municipality's mobility issues.
